On Tuesday, June 18th, the elementary division held their Grade 1-7 Awards and Spring Music Night at the Toronto Christian Community Church. Despite the oppressive heat and humidity outside, approximately 950 people (including the elementary students) gathered to celebrate, praise, and share the gift of music that God has given us.
After the opening prayer, our two Grade 8 emcees launched into the jam packed program for the evening. They kept the show rolling by introducing the 5 music ensembles (Ukulele Ensemble, Recorder Ensemble, Worship Team, Boomwhacker Ensemble, and Bucket Drumming Ensemble), our Senior Band and 3 choirs (Primary Choir, Senior Choir and Staff Choir).
Interspersed between these acts were our Grade 1-7 awards which consisted of the following:
- Daniel Award for Leadership
- Nehemiah Award for Perseverance
- Ruth Award for Loyalty
- Paul Award for Stewardship
- Barnabas Award for Encouragement
- Daniel Award for Integrity
- Jonathan Award for Friendship
- ACE (award for consistency in Attitude towards work and school, a Cooperative spirit and excellence in Effort)
- General Proficiency (Highest Average per grade)
- Gauss Math Competition Award
- Principal’s Award
Before the evening ended, Mrs. Serio gave some closing remarks. She gave thanks for God’s blessings on the student body as well as the teachers. She also gave a special acknowledgement of three teachers with 15+ years of service (Miss Bartz, Miss Errington, and Mrs. Vant Erve) and one teacher with 20+ years of service, Miss Phillips.
We are so grateful for God’s grace and blessings for the wonderful evening to worship through song led by the Worship Team and to celebrate the many musical and academic successes and achievements of our student body.
