Welcome to Wesley Christian Academy

Wesley Christian Academy is a private independent early learning centre and elementary school in Markham, Ontario.

We are a close-knit community where students from Toddler to Grade 8 learn in a creative, structured and loving environment that nurtures the whole child.

Students are encouraged to develop a curiosity for the world around them, to strengthen their love for learning, and to establish a moral compass based on Biblical teachings and a relationship with Christ.

As we are a Christian school, we share our beliefs and values with all our students, but we also warmly welcome families from ALL faiths and backgrounds. Come and learn more about the Wesley difference!

What Makes Wesley Different?

"Wesley is different from other schools because every time you walk into Wesley, you feel loved and cared about."

Kristen, Grade 5

"Wesley is different from other schools because I feel like the students get more connected and also the teachers pay more attention to each individual student. I also think it is different because teachers will take time to actually help you."

Colton, Grade 8

"I like that Wesley teaches you about God."

Nolan, Grade 3

"From what I have seen with friends in the public system, we are already very much exposed to high school level work. I feel like I have been set up for success in high school."

Claire, Grade 8

"At Wesley, we cultivate lasting friendships and relationships that carry-on into adulthood. Classmates become like family and they are a community that travels with you wherever your journey takes you."

Why Choose Wesley?

Academic Excellence

At Wesley, we give our youngest students a head start by introducing numeracy and literacy in pre-school. By the end of Senior Kindergarten, they are reading, writing simple sentences (in print and cursive writing), and doing math. When they graduate from Grade 8, they are well-prepared for high school and have already tackled large parts of some secondary school level subjects such as math and literacy.

Dedicated Teachers with Long-term Commitment to Wesley

We have a dedicated and creative team of teachers. Some of them have been with the school for over 20 years, under the leadership of our one and only principal, Mrs. Serio. Most of our remaining staff have taught at Wesley for over 5 years, with new teachers rounding out the team, primarily joining to reflect our ongoing growth and to replace staff on parental leave or retirement.

Loving and Nurturing Environment

With a dedicated group of teachers who have long term commitments to Wesley, a sense of “family” is prevalent. Teachers know the names of the students, not only those in their classes but of their siblings who have graduated or are up and coming at Wesley. They think of, care about, and view each student as a whole person. The focus is not just on the student’s academic performance. Wesley is about gently guiding and encouraging students towards their full potential and helping them realize that God has an amazing plan for each of them.

Consistent Expectations

Since the teachers work together as a team, the expectations are consistent throughout. When students know what to expect, their anxiety is reduced, and a certain level of achievement is attained. Students can feel secure and excited about learning instead of worrying about what a day might hold.

Spiritual Foundation

Students at Wesley participate in daily Bible classes, weekly chapel services, and have classroom conversations that reflect Christian values to love God, show kindness and grace to others. This component in their education helps build a moral compass and spiritual foundation in every student.
