Tuesday was our first House Team Day of this school year. Students and teachers dressed in clothing or costumes that reflected their house team colours to show their team spirit! The day started with the House Team Captains greeting the incoming students at the door. Some students came dressed in their homemade or store bought costumes. Others had accessories such as wigs, sunglasses, flower leis, necklaces, caps, stuffies, etc. in their backpacks that they put on once they got to class.
During morning announcements, the House Team Captains gave their house team cheers. At lunch time, elementary students sat with their house teams during each of the three lunches.
In the afternoon, there was a special assembly. Mrs. Vant Erve welcomed JK to Grade 8 students to the gym. Students sat by grade and house team. Blocks of blue, yellow, green and purple could be seen throughout the gym. Students admired each other’s outfits.
During the assembly, students and staff engaged in “Just Dance”, house team cheers, and hilarious rounds of “telestrations” – a combination game of pictionary and broken telephone.
After all the fun, the assembly ended with the highly anticipated house team point update. As expected, the totals were close and Fry house continues to be in the lead – but only by a mere five points! As a reward, Fry house team members can wear casual clothes on Thursday, November 14th!!!
What an exciting way to end the day and to motivate students to persevere in the quest to earn more house team points!
