All of our students at Wesley are special and talented in some way. God has blessed each of us with tremendous gifts and potential, each unique and designed to shine at designated moments in our lives.
At times, we like to recognize and congratulate some of the special accomplishments that some of our students achieve outside of their studies at Wesley.
In February 2024, one of our Grade 8 students and his teammates competed and won in the FIRST Tech Challenge Ontario Provincial Championships. According to FIRST Canada, “Tech Challenge teams (2-15 members, ages 12-18) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it ‘the hardest fun you’ll ever have!’”
This victory allowed them to qualify for the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships which were held on April 17-20 in Houston. There, they competed against 200+ teams from around the world. After 10 qualification matches in the first 3 days, his team, in alliance with teams from Romania and Australia, advanced to the elimination round. This strong alliance won the division championship, and they finished in 2nd place at the finals! To date, this is the best result from a Canadian team at the FIRST Tech Challenge Tournament!
Congratulations!
