Fostering Interests Through Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular Sports
At Wesley Christian Academy, one of our main goals is to help raise a complete child. In order for this to occur, we believe that students need to foster interests through extracurricular activities. Every student has different talents and given the right opportunity, each can shine and demonstrate their individual gift.
For those interested in sports, the name of our school team is Wesley Wildfire. The fire theme refers to our desire to have the love of Christ burn in our hearts so we can shine for our Lord.
Wesley competes with other similar sized schools. School teams practice throughout the season in preparation for a round robin tournament between the competing schools. The winning team receives a trophy and/or championship pennant. Wesley has a number of them proudly hanging in our gymnasium.
Wesley offers a large variety of competitive sports that vary by season. Students are encouraged to try out and show their skills.

Introducing…The Wesley Wildfire
This presentation was given by Mrs. Ma during chapel service on Friday, October 18, 2013, during which she revealed the new name and logo for all Wesley sports teams. Here is what she had to share.
Fire is a powerful thing. Fire burns. Fire consumes. Fire spreads and is contagious. That’s what we want you Wesley leaders to be – contagious. Contagious in your actions. Contagious in your attitude. Contagious in your passion and love for God.
Did you know that in the Bible, God often used fire to show his presence? Think about Moses tending his flock in the desert. How did God speak to Moses? Remember when the Israelites were wandering for 40 years in circles? How did God lead them? How about when the disciples were praying together after Jesus left them? How did the Holy Spirit come to them?
We want you to remember that God is always here, with you at school, at home, everywhere!
The day Jesus rose from the dead, he walked with two men from Jerusalem to a nearby village. The two men didn’t know they were talking to Jesus. They spent the entire 7-mile walk talking about the Bible, prophesies about Jesus and what it all meant. It was only after Jesus left them, they realized they had spent their day with Jesus! they said, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Our hearts should burn for Jesus after we spend time with Him. Our hope is that you burn like fire with a love for God. So… To remind us of how we should burn for God, we have named Wesley sports teams, Wesley wildfire! This name will remind us that God is always with us and that we should burn wildly with a contagious passion for Him!
“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” - John Wesley
