Today’s ELC Chapel Service – Friday, March 28, 2025

In the ELC chapel service today, the JK2 class led the pledges, O Canada and the Lord’s Prayer. Ms. Lin then put on three familiar songs for the students to worship God – “Sing High, Sing Low”, “Every Move I Make”, and “God Is So Good”.

As she transitioned to getting ready for her message, Ms. Lin led the singing of “Jesus Loves the Little Children” a cappella. Ms. Lin then introduced her “Thanks Living” jar. She had a large one and a small one. Inside these jars were pieces of folded paper, each with a story to tell. Ms. Lin shared that she puts one of those papers into the jar every time she has something to thank God for. To further explain, she pulled one of them out. It was about the time Ms. Lin passed her driving test to get her license! She shared some slides about her journey in that accomplishment. In 2022, she got to Wesley by riding her bike. She started taking driving lessons, bought a car and passed her test! She was very thankful for this.

Ms. Lin also shared that when she is sad or overwhelmed, she likes to take something out of the jar and reflect on God’s faithfulness as well. By doing this, she is reminded that God is with her and she does not need to be afraid.

Next, Ms. Lin showed a short video about Jesus and the 10 lepers. Jesus healed 10 men but only one went back to thank Jesus for his miraculous healing. Ms. Lin reminded everyone of the importance to be thankful.

Then, she shared 1 Chronicles 16:34. She read it and asked the students to repeat it as well.

To conclude, she told the students how she made her “Thanks Living” jars and encouraged them to do the same. She said that even if some of the younger students cannot read or write yet, they can still draw pictures of God’s goodness to them. Next, she asked a few students to come to the front to share what they are thankful for. Answers like “my breakfast”, “my family” and “my new toys” were put forth.

Then, everyone sang “God is so Good” again, and Mrs. Seto ended the service in prayer, asking God to help us remember to never stop saying thank you to Him.
